Author Update: What’s Coming This Summer?

Hi folks,

Just a quick update here for those who are still grinding their teeth over the ending of Forged in Blood I. As some of you already know, I was well into the second half when I released the first half. Now, I’m working on the epilogue and should finish the rough draft this weekend. FiB2 will indeed end the story, so we’ll finally have all the resolution stuff (and, as I’ve teased on Facebook and Twitter, a haircut for a certain someone — no, not Akstyr again). I’ll be doing my own edits in June and have a slot reserved with my editor in July. The cover art is already done (thanks, Glendon!), so I’m hoping everything will be ready to go by early August.

After that?

Lots of folks have asked about a new Flash Gold story, and I’m planning to make that the next project. I’ve also been sitting on an idea for a contemporary fantasy series (no vampires, werewolves, or zombies, but… maybe some motorcycle riding elves :D) and might have the first book ready to go around Christmas.

For those who are wondering if there might be more stories with the Emperor’s Edge gang, I am leaving things open for new story arcs over there. At the end of FiB2, I’m planning to ask people which characters they’d like to see more of in the future. I also have an idea for a trilogy set in Nuria that it’d be fun to do, and maybe a science fiction adventure too. Author minds are busy places!

Now that you know what’s coming, I better get back to work so I can get it out there. Thanks for reading!

SO excited….holding out hope that we will see more of these guys in the future. VERY excited about more Flash Gold and anything else you are writing.

  2. Kelly says:

I love all of your ideas, Lindsay!

    Especially the motorcycle elves. Hehe!

Your mind must be a fun place to be!

Have loved the EE series and am excited for any other projects from you! Thanks for the great communication of your process as we (eagerly) await the books!!

  4. Diane L says:

    Motorcycle riding elves?? Whoot! πŸ˜€

Hey, I’ll read anything you write with delight! Thanks for the update on EE7.

  5. NicoleY says:

I’ll read the rough draft, I don’t mind! xP

  6. Carradee says:

You’re on my auto-buy list as an author, not just for the EE series, so whatever you write, I’ll buy it, unless it’s erotica.

I will be salivating at the thought of future stories in the EE universe, though. ^_^

  7. Truidie says:

I can’t decide whether I’m excited to see how EE unfolds, or sad because it’s ending. Both make me want to cry.

  8. Tempest says:

    More Flash Gold! Woo Hoo!

  9. Jean says:

EE 2 can’t come fast enough, but looking forward to new Flash Gold too. Would definitely read about motorcycle riding elves! πŸ™‚ More short story collections about the EE characters in the future would be great! Maybe the aliens will come back for their tech…lol

    • ExStock says:

Well, I’d like a new EE arc, so EE 2 kind of works… how about EE2:1? πŸ™‚ Although I do believe I will wait until I’ve actually read EE1:7 before I pick what I will campaign for as the subsequent arc!

  10. Jean says:

Hit submit too fast…meant EE7, Forged in Blood II πŸ™‚

  11. Ana says:

So excited to hear that the release is so soon. I do a cross country move at the end of July, and this will be a great chance to relax after. Thanks for the update πŸ™‚

  12. I’m kind of glad I’m behind on the series, now. That means I have more time with each book before I reach the end! πŸ˜‰

I like the EE series a lot. I found you because of your awesome blog posts for writers, but after a while I just couldn’t resist checking out your work.

Can I just say that I love Akstyr? He’s my favorite. I’ve only read the first three, so I’m hoping one of them have him as a main POV.

Anyway, keep writing, and thank you so much for such a fun series.

  13. Margaret Y. says:

Hooray for a new Flash Gold story!

  14. I love that image of motorcycle riding elves! I hope that idea bears fruit. Look forward to your next series.

  15. Zoe Cannon says:

Ooh, sounds like old-school contemporary fantasy – one of my favorite things πŸ™‚ I’ll be looking forward to that one.

Do you have any plans for another Encrypted book, or is Decrypted the end? I’d love to see more nerdy adventures… and I wouldn’t mind seeing more Rias, either πŸ™‚

    • Lindsay says:

I won’t say never to another Encrypted/Decrypted story, but I have lots of other things I want to explore right now. Rias and Tikaya will allude to some of their interim adventures in EE7. πŸ™‚ Thanks for reading!

  16. anne says:

So I am a huge fan of the audiobooks (audible is awesome) and was hoping to find an update on any progress for Conspiracy. Should I just break down and buy the books?

    • Lindsay says:

      Hi Anne,

Unfortunately, Starla isn’t going to be able to continue with the series, so I’m looking for another narrator. It’ll be a little while before 4 is out, but I hope the others won’t take long to finish after that. Sorry!

      Lindsay

      • anne says:

Thanks for telling me! It’s actually sort of a relief because I really want to see what happens next immediately. And thanks for such a fantastic collection of characters that I can’t get enough of. Now I’m off to buy the eBooks πŸ™‚

  17. Haley says:

Omg, The relationship between Amaranthe and Sicarius is amazing. I love their relationship and their adventures. The rest of the crew is awesome too don’t get me wrong, but those to are my favourite. I’d love if their were more of them in the future :)!
