Forged in Blood II (The Final Emperor’s Edge Book) Is Available

The last novel in The Emperor’s Edge story line is ready to go. I’ve posted the first couple of chapters and the cover art here, in case you’d like a preview, but if you want to pick it up right now, it’s available at Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and Kobo (Apple coming soon).

Thank you all for coming with me on this journey. I hope you’ll enjoy the last part of the team’s adventures and will find the ending satisfying. That said, there’s a link to a poll at the end of the book. Please let me know if you want to see more from these characters in the future.

  1. L.M. Sherwin says:

WOW!!!! What a major accomplishment! It’s hard to believe that you’ve already finished up your series. Congratulations, my dear!

  2. Aya says:

Oh my god! I can’t believe that it’s the last book already! Happy that it’s out, but sad that it’s the end. Thank you too Lindsay, for writing such a great series : )

  3. Tempest says:

Excellent! Just in time for the weekend. (It’s really sweet how you do that for us.) Will try very hard to make it last and not gorge like a small child in a candy store.

And more Flash Gold coming soon?

    • Lindsay says:

Yes to Flash Gold this fall. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Tempest says:

Woo Hoo! This will be great for either Thanksgiving or Christmas Break . (Not that I don’t love EE and the Starcrests, but I miss my FG folks.)

  4. Alex says:

Bought it the moment I received the email yesterday (a happy dance might also have been involved); finished it this morning.

Could not keep from grinning like an idiot during the epilogue. It was an utterly satisfying end to a fantastic series – thank you!

  5. Cassandra says:

It was so good! But I am so sad the adventure is over! Now what will I read??

  6. Lora says:

You make me sad when you say that, “thanks for coming on the journey”… It’s unbearable. Nobody wants this to be over. Your wonderful series. You’re leading us all with it, like Amaranthe and her plans. You’re the Amaranthe to our Books! *sigh* Thank you for them, I’ll never, ever forget them. Do you know how soon is “coming soon” for Apple?

    • Lindsay says:

Thanks, Lora. I hope within a week or so for Apple. It has to be approved at Smashwords first, as I use them as a distributor.

  7. I think the book has done amazingly well so far, Lindsay. You’ve got 16 reviews on Amazon, all 5-star, in just 4 days.

You’re #9 in epic fantasy for eBooks, and #12 in epic fantasy for all books. And I see Forged in Blood I is in the top 70.

On Smashwords you’ve got 1 review but are coming in on the second page of epic fantasy. Anyone who’s looking for a fantasy book on that site will come across it, and then check out your earlier titles.

I think the book’s performance really proves what you’ve been talking about here about the benefits of a series, using a blog to bring in more readers, and how a just one free title can really propel you to new levels. (Yes you may have poured blood, sweat, and tears into it so listing it for free could be a travesty of justice, but I think these books prove that wrong).

  8. Vicki says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! What a wonderful journey you took us on. What a nail-biter this final story was. It was so hard to imagine how Sicarius would be saved, but leave it to someone who loved him unconditionally to do it without a second thought. I am sad to see it end,(and yes, I did cry) and would so very much love to read more adventures with Amaranthe and Sicarius, as they travel the world on their much needed vacation. Or maybe even a story about their children.
What a beautiful love story these two had, with all the drama and perils, but also laughter.
I am looking forward to more Flashgold stories and anything else you write.

  9. Rebecca says:

This final book has surpassed my expectations. I cannot express how much pleasure I have received from this series; thank you. I look forward to the continuation of the flash gold series and anything else you come up with.

Now back to read the epilogue again ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Sara Alongi says:

Ah, awesome series! Just finished it – now I’m left empty but happy. ๐Ÿ™‚ You do a very good work.
If you plan to come back to the world and the characters you could always do it in several short stories, if that is less of an effort than writing a whole book. And it would definitely keep us fans constantly wanting for more. ๐Ÿ˜‰

However, I’m as happy if Kali and Cedar returns this fall!

  11. C. Gockel says:

Bought it on SW and reviewed. It was a very satisfying conclusion to the series.

  12. mj says:

You asked at the end of FIB II who we would like to see more written about. Either intentionally or unintentionally, Basilard reminds me of the Bloodguard in The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I never felt enough was written about them, so I’m very interested in Basilard and would like to see what becomes of him.

I have this vision of he and Sicarius sitting on an old porch swing well into their 90’s playing cards and reminiscing about the good old days when assassins were assassins and men were scared. This would happen right before the nurse came to give their their Metamucil and take them for a sponge bath.

But seriously, what happens to two characters like Basilard and Sicarius when they are old men? Under normal circumstances they wouldn’t make it. They would die. You’ve given them an on-going life. So what now happens? How do they adjust to this much saner world or do they not? Do they become mercenaries and die?

You can say all you like that Basilard is a pacifist and Sicarius no longer sees the need to kill everyone, but that is who they’ve been for most of their lives. So what happens now? What happens when they war is over and they have no where left to go?

Thank you in advance if you decide to investigate this story.

  13. Jennifer says:

Shut up and take my money! TAKE IT

  14. Alex O says:

Just finished it. A little sad, a little happy.

What would I like to see? A story that jumps ahead quite a few years to when Maldynado has teenage daughters. With suitors. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. I loved them all. Would love to see more of Amaranthe and Sicarious. i love them as a couple and love how he is the complete opposite of her and how they fit each other like a glove.

I haven’t started the flash gold series yet but if it’s anything like The EE series then I will be pleased. Reading the Assassin’s curse now since book 7 talked so much about it ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Abby says:

I highly enjoyed the whole series, and as for the poll, I will say that although I loved it, I am not sure I would want a straight continuation of the story. I don’t know how much more you can do with Amaranthe and Sicarious in terms of character development.
I may possibly be the only person out there who thinks Akstyr is your best possibility for a spin off. I think he now has both motive and ability to carry off his own story. Time for him to grow up and do the team proud.

  17. Laurie says:

No! No! No! It can’t be over! I loved it of course and my emotions were fully engaged with both laughter and tears in the final two books (I waited until the last one was out until I read the previous one – too impatient for those cliffhangers). And you asked who we would like to see again and my answer is all of them! But if I could only choose a couple it would be Amaranthe and Sicarius which would mean that of course you would have to include Sespian and all of the rest. Thank you so much for this incredible series that I discovered by means of a free book. I didn’t want it to end! And thank you also for your website where I have discovered a number of good authors that are new to me. I look forward to whatever you are writing next but would be happiest if you would tell us more about the Emperor’s Edge characters (and Enigma/ Decoded). Let’s face it – there are always more baddies lurking about and this wouldn’t have to be an end (I say oh so hopefully). But whatever you choose, best of luck to you and all of your future endeavours. Thank you for the sleepless nights and the well-told tale!

  18. Khaalidah says:

    Hey there Lindsay.
You’re my writing hero and I hope to be like you when I grow up.
I am so pleased to see that you’ve completed such a quality series and I hope you keep it going.
I’ve got all of the books loaded to my Kindle reader as we speak. I have to thank you for your success. Yeah that sounds nuts, right? But I really do thank you for your success. I love the EE series (though I have some catching up to do) and your efforts have inspired me. Each time I stop to read one of your books I feel so very conflicted. I want desperately to see what Sircarius and Am and the rest of gang are doing and at the same time I want desperately stop reading so that I can go work on writing my own masterpiece.
    You’re an inspiration!
    Thank you Sister.

  19. Lindsey F says:

I found the EE series on Wattpad not long ago and devoured the first book in a day. Last Tuesday I finally took notice the other books were published and proceeded to buy the rest in the series. I read all 7 books in just under a week (6 days and a few hours). I absolutely adored this series and hate that I stumbled upon it when it has now ended. The best series I have probably ever read! Makes my heart skip a beat. ๐Ÿ™‚ thank you for the amazing story it really brightened up my summer!!

    • Lindsay says:

Thanks for giving them a read, Lindsey. I’m glad you enjoyed the series! I may end up revisiting these characters in the not-too-distant future. ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Mark Alger says:

Wow! Congratulations. Back when we were trading crits on the OWW, I had hopes for your success with this world, these characters. And you’ve done it! Well done!

    Now for the next series.

    M

  21. Ransom says:

Congrats on a brilliant series, Lindsay.
I’ve read all the books now and it’s been some of the most fun I’ve ever had reading. I’m sad to see the series end, but excited to see what you’ll come up with next! I know I’ll be buying it, anyway xD

  22. zouagie says:

Are you planning on making it into paperback? Have most of the series and was hoping to to see Forged in blood 1 & 2 out in paperback.

  23. Gwen says:

When will Forged In Blood 1 and 2 be out in paperback?
