Those of you in the “inner circle” (AKA the elite and privileged folks who were willing to sign up for my newsletter) know Dark Currents, the sequel to The Emperor’s Edge, has been up on Smashwords for a couple of days, but now it’s out at Amazon and Barnes & Noble too. It should make its way to Apple, Kobo, Sony, etc. in the next couple of weeks.
Here’s the blurb:
It’s been three months since former enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon and the notorious assassin Sicarius thwarted kidnappers and saved the emperor’s life. The problem? Nobody knows they were responsible for this good deed. Worse, they’re being blamed for the entire scheme. With enforcers and bounty hunters stalking them, and the emperor nursing a personal hatred for Sicarius, it’s going to be hard to earn exoneration.
When Amaranthe’s team discovers mutilated bodies in the city aqueducts and a mysterious illness incapacitates thousands of citizens, she and Sicarius see an opportunity to solve the mystery and prove their loyalty. But they’ll have to defeat vengeful shamans, man-eating predators, and deadly mechanical constructs, all while dodging imperial soldiers who would rather kill them than accept their help.
Nobody said exoneration would be easy.
The ebook is $3.99 at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords, and you can read the first chapter on my site.
If you’re stumbling across this post, and you haven’t read Book 1 yet, you can grab that one for a mere $0.99 at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.
Congratulations on the new release! Hope it does well for you!
YAY! Can hardly wait to read!!
Congratulations! I love your covers for “Dark Currents” and “The Emperor’s Edge”. Do I remember correctly that Streetlight Graphics designed them? I was researching potential cover artists on KindleBoards and I think I saw one of your covers on there.
Congrats, Lindsay! I envy how quickly you’re getting these out.
Way to go, Lindsay! Now, when does book three come out?? 😉
Thank you, guys (and gals)! I’m so touched that people have already bought it and read it and left reviews. It’s just too bad it takes so many months to write a book and only a few hours to read it. *g*
Scott, yes, Glendon at Streetlight Graphics did those covers for me. He’s getting pretty popular, so contact him early if you’re interested in cover art!
Finished Emperor’s Edge on the bus and downloaded Dark Currents moments later. Gotta love Kindle! Really enjoying the book so far. 🙂
Congrats! I hope it does well for you. I am in the middle of another book and have one more in the cue, then it is on to DC. Wish I could read the other books faster, darn Johannes Cabal the Detective is a rather slow read!
I stumbled across Emperor’s Edge a few months ago and was delighted to find there was a sequel. I’m finished Dark Currents now and I’m really hoping there will be another book in this series!! I love the characters you have created and the world they live in. Your books seem to have something to them that others are missing. I was in the middle of another book when I found Dark Currents but it got tossed to the side till I was done with yours.Thank you for writing such wonderful stories!
Thanks for reading, Nicole and MS! I just love being able to order a book from everywhere (it’s usually from the bed for me as that’s my favorite reading spot). Remember the horrible old days when you actually had to wait for the bookstore to be open and drive all the way there? 🙂
Gwen, thank you for the kind words! I’ve started working on Book 3, though, alas, these things take much longer to write than to read.
Lindsay, I’m so glad to hear you’re already working on Book 3. I recently read Emperor’s Edge and Dark Currents, and they’re both great reads and very well written. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Thanks, Sara! I’m hoping to have the third one out before Christmas. 🙂
Emperor’s Edge, was a great book that held my interest from beginning to end. I’m about to order the next two in the series.
Thanks for picking it up, Bill! I’m glad you’re enjoying the adventures so far. 🙂
