Cover Art for The Assassin’s Curse (a Sicarius and Amaranthe short story)

I’ve been writing and writing since the beginning of NaNoWriMo in November, and I do believe it’s time to take a break and edit something. I have the cover art back for a 12,000-word short story I wrote over Halloween, and my wonderful beta readers have sent back some notes, so I’m going to work on finishing that up this weekend. I’ll still have to send it off to an editor, but I should be able to get it out within a couple of weeks.

The Assassin’s Curse is a stand alone story that will — I hope! — tide Sicarius-and-Amaranthe fans over until Book 4 comes out (I’m still working on the first draft of EE4, but I think I’ll be able to get it out by May). For those who have been waiting patiently for the next Flash Gold story, I’ll be editing that before long too.

Here’s a sneak peek of the cover art for the short story. As I mentioned, I wrote it the week of Halloween, and it’s got that kind of theme.

ย

By the way, my plan is to start out selling the short story for 99 cents so that I can recoup the costs of cover art and editing, but it’ll probably end up being a freebie eventually. If you’d like to get it for free right away, please sign up for my newsletter if you haven’t already (the sign-up form is in the menu on the right). I’ll send out a Smashwords coupon as soon as the story is up over there (you can download file formats for any e-reader at Smashwords).

Honestly, I don’t mind paying the $.99 fee. It’s probably breaking the bank, but certainly worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Looking forward to another one of your super rad adventures.

May! I have to wait till May…..Wahhhhhh! Seriously I love that series. I really am not good at waiting. My favorite scene so far far is when Sicarius comes out of the woods with glowing vomit. That whole conversation that followed cracked me up.

  11. Tonja says:

There’s a scene with glowing vomit?? lol I wish I could get through my TBR pile faster! Can’t wait to read that ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Lindsay says:

Oh, boy, what a thing to become infamous for. I’ve had characters pee their names in the snow too. No story should be so serious as not to allow time for such moments. ๐Ÿ˜›

  14. So many exciting things coming out soon! I can’t wait to read!

Also, oh man, that cover is AWESOME.

  15. mamma says:

  17. Camille says:

  19. Kelly Christensen says:

I have loved all your books. After downloading The Assassin’s Curse today my husband read it to me and 25 year old daughter. We loved it!!!! It’s full of so much humor which made us laugh throughout it, kept us on the edge of our seats with the drama, and helped tide us over until hopefully May when the next EE book will be out…? We are hooked on all your books. Thanks so much for providing our family such clean family literature to read. I love that thus far your books convey the suggestion (“cursed ancestors” -I LOVE THAT!!!!) of swear words but not the bad language…keep em’ coming. Take good care!!!!

    • Lindsay says:

I’m glad the family enjoyed the story, Kelly! Yes, made-up curses are more fun in fantasy. I think Encrypted is the only story I’ve written with real profanity (that one is full of marines, and you know how those military types can be… I used to be one myself ;).

I know lots of folks are waiting for Bk 4, so I’m definitely working on it every day. Thanks for reading and commenting!
